Handicapping – PHRF-LO Certificate and ORC Certificates
If you are racing in a one design fleet (e.g. J 70) you generally need a class membership and meet the class rules. Otherwise, you need to have a handicap certificate for the fleet in which you register at any event.
For PCYC Racing you will require a PHRF-LO (Performance Handicap Racing Fleet of Lake Ontario) certificate. Contact our Club Volunteer Handicapping Team at handicapper@pcyc.net to obtain a certificate. Information about this rating system can be found at www.phrf-lo.org.
For the LORC (Lake Ontario Racing Council) weekend events, this season will be using both PHRF and the Offshore Racing Council (ORC) rating system for applicable boats. For information in obtaining an ORC certificate, contact John Crawley at jccrawley@gmail.com. Information about this rating system can be found at www.orc-canada.org.
Best of luck this season out on the water!
