Handicapping – PHRF-LO Certificate and ORC Certificates

If you are not racing in a One Design Fleet, you will require a Handicap Certificate in order to participate in Midweek Racing and most weekend events.

For Midweek Racing you will require a PHRF-LO (Performance Handicap Racing Formula – Lake Ontario) certificate.  Contact our Club Volunteer Handicapper Gregory Kristch @  gregkr@gmail.com for information in obtaining the certificate. Information about this rating system can be found at www.phrf-lo.org.  I would remind all members seeking information about their rating to contact PHRF-Lo directly, as the club handicappers are not responsible for the rating formula itself, only supplying the PCYC fleet with the rating certificates, answering questions about the certificate  and measuring sails in the spring of the year. For those that have purchased sails over the winter, please contact your sailmaker for the measurement certificates to make the process easier for all. Please look on the PHRF-LO site for more information.

For the LORC (Lake Ontario Racing Council) weekend events, this season will be using the Offshore Racing Council (ORC) rating system for applicable boats.  For information in obtaining an ORC certificate, contact John Crawley at jccrawley@gmail.com.  Information about this rating system can be found at www.orc-canada.org.

Best of luck this season out on the water!
