BoatHub at Port Credit Yacht Club, A Crew of Their Own

The picnic table under the Club pavilion is still warm from the day when eight women lift their cups for one last toast of the season. They have spent the summer trading off the helm of the same J/24, a boat that belongs to Port Credit Yacht Club rather than to any one of them, booked through BoatHub and shared across a rotating crew who show up ready to sail. Some nights the wind barely moves the fleet at all. Some nights it is enough to send them home laughing and soaked. Either way, they are back the next Thursday.

What a Season With BoatHub Looks Like

Any crew like this one starts the same way, with a Club-maintained J/24 booked through BoatHub rather than owned outright. Members choose between two time slots a day, an early sail or a golden-hour evening, with enough standing bookings each month to build a real weekly habit, plus last-minute slots whenever the calendar opens up. Pair up with another BoatHub member for back-to-back bookings and a single Saturday turns into a full day on the water. There is no haul-out to arrange, no winter storage to find, and no maintenance schedule to keep, the boat is ready every time a member's name is on the sheet.

The Same Boat That Put Port Credit on the World Stage

The J/24s in the BoatHub fleet carry real pedigree, the same class of racing sailboat that brought PCYC a World Championship in 2017, when 63 crews from around the globe raced out of this harbour for the title. That tradition returns this fall, PCYC is hosting the 2026 J/24 North American Championship from September 30 to October 4, its first time running the Nationals since 2016 and the closing regatta of the Club's 90th anniversary season. Sail a BoatHub boat on a Thursday night, and you are sailing the exact class of boat that put this harbour on the world sailing map.

Port Credit Yacht Club's Women on the Helm Series

Crews like the one on that pavilion dock also found each other through Women on the Helm (WOTH), a race within Monday night's regular series with one rule, a woman holds the helm at the start, the finish, and every mark in between, while the rest of the crew can be mixed freely. Program contact Anne Sanderson is on hand most race nights to answer rules questions, and prizes are awarded at the Club's annual banquet alongside every other fleet.

Every sailor in that pavilion photo, and every crew signed up for this September's Worlds-class regatta, started somewhere else, as crew on somebody else's boat, at a Learn to Sail clinic, or as a name on an event list built to get more people racing.
