The Pool, the Patio, and the Chartroom at Port Credit Yacht Club

Ask a member what they did at the Club last Saturday, and the answer is often something other than sailing. Just as often it is the pool at sunset, a plate from the carving station in the Harbour View Dining Room, or an evening on the patio while the kids run the playground until the light goes. Port Credit Yacht Club's 90 years were built on the water, but a good part of an ordinary member's week happens just a few steps back from the docks.
A Different Kind of Harbour View
The gardens along PCYC's harbour walkway sit close enough to the docks that a bed of daisies and a forest of masts end up in the same photograph. Past the gardens, the Club's pool looks out toward the marina from under a wooden pergola, ringed with loungers and shallow steps for younger swimmers. Nearby, a fenced children's playground and a cluster of brightly painted Adirondack chairs give families a spot that is entirely separate from sail trim or dock lines, just a place to sit while someone else in the group finishes rigging.
The Chartroom, the Club's Everyday Room
Inside, the Chartroom is PCYC's social hub, a full-service bar and a relaxed room that looks out over the harbour and the patio. Members land there after a race, for a weekday lunch, or for an easy evening that came together on the spot. A wall in the room holds decades of Past Commodore portraits, and just next door the Harbour View Dining Room sets out the carving stations and buffet spreads that turn a Friday night into an event right there in the clubhouse. Beyond day-to-day use, the Chartroom and the Club's rental rooms host private celebrations, meetings, and corporate events, professional service in a room with a view few banquet halls can offer.

Gazebos, a Fire Pit, and a Season That Does Not End at the Dock
Outside, gazebos with gas barbecues, a fire pit, and picnic spaces round out a warm-weather side of the Club that has little to do with racing schedules or wind forecasts. Add the playground, the patio, and easy access to Lakefront Promenade Park and the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail next door, and a family membership starts to look less like a boat slip with a clubhouse attached and more like a waterfront neighbourhood.

The Club Beyond the Boats
Ninety years in, PCYC's identity is still built around the harbour and the docks that fill every spring. But the pool, the gardens, the playground, and the Chartroom are just as much a part of an ordinary week here as a Tuesday night race.
