Smoking Policy

On January 1st 2015 the Province of Ontario amended the ‘Smoke Free Ontario Act’ further restricting smoking in both public and private places. Smoking or holding lighted tobacco on all restaurant and bar patios is now illegal.  In addition, smoking is prohibited within 20 meters of any point on the perimeter of a sporting area or a spectator area adjacent to a sporting area such as the swimming pool, children’s playground, Learn to Sail (LTS) and seasonal ice rink.

These new restrictions amplify existing regulations governing the workplace and areas where food is served. In response, the Port Credit Yacht Club has developed a policy, which both complies with the Provincial legislation and Peel Region Health Department direction.

Effective immediately smoking is prohibited in the area south and west of the driveway up to but not including the boardwalk section between the ‘R’ and ‘Q’ Dock ramps.  Smoking is also prohibited in all buildings, workplaces and the main entrance to the Club House.  Smoking is permitted in the main and back parking lots and outside the west service entrance of the Club House for staff.

This policy applies to everyone without exception. Non-compliance with the policy will result in being refused service and reported to the Board of Directors for further action.
