Monday Night Racing

PCYC has an active racing program.  The racing season commences in mid-May and finishes in mid-September.  Club racing is offered on Monday and Wednesday evenings with the first warning signal at 1830.  Both nights offer handicap racing using the Performance Handicap Racing Fleet of Lake Ontario (PHRF-LO) system.  A handicap certificate for club and open events is easily obtained through the PCYC Handicapper Team handicapper@pcyc.net.

Monday nights offer White Sail racing for both competitive racers and for those who enjoy a less intensive racing experience.  The course configuration is a triangle windward/leeward course.  The faster boats sail a windward/leeward course twice around.  The slightly slower fleets sail a triangle and then a windward/leeward leg.

Wednesday nights offer competitive spinnaker racing and white sail racing as well.  The Spinnaker Fleets sail a windward/leeward course twice around and the White Sail fleets sail a triangle and then a windward/leeward leg.

Women on the Helm

COME JOIN US

The PCYC Women on the Helm (WOTH) racing series for 2022 is held as a ‘race within a race’ as part of the Monday night ‘B’ series.  The WOTH series is arranged so that couples who plan to share the helm can alternate races between the ‘A’ and ‘B’ series.  Katie Nicoll-Coleman will be available after most races to answer questions about rules, etc.   Prizes will be awarded at the annual Awards banquet.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

The PCYC Women on the Helm Monday Night Race is open to all boats registered for the PCYC Monday night racing series.  The rules and regulations for the Monday night race series will apply to WOTH with the following exception: A woman is required on the helm at the start and finish of the race and around all marks.  The woman does not have to be the female skipper of record.  Crew can be mixed. Women planning to race in WOTH races should contact Anne Sanderson: sandersonam@outlook.com
