Donated by James Johnstone in 2005.
First awarded in 2005.
The Loon was donated by of Carol Mullin in memory of her husband, Tom Brewster, who raced on Seajay in the double handed Fujinon races (now LO300). He kissed the dock upon arrival after the 1990 knock down and the 1992 Yorkshire shoal grounding. He returned, especially for this exciting race, from Calgary and Dallas in several following years. He was a fantastic sailor and friend, highly respected by all around him, personally and in business. When in Dallas, he gave up the keel for the second wing in the air, but, following a tragic accident was unable to return for these races to which he devoted so much. This trophy is presented in his very fond memory, as well as to help promote sportsmanship and safe long distance sailing in future events in a similar way to the way he treated us and others.
The Tom Brewster Trophy is awarded to the yacht with the Best Corrected Time in Fully Crewed Spinnaker Division 5 of the LO300.
