I’ve waited 30 years to finally take up sailing and I am so glad I finally took the plunge (literally). I would highly recommend this program to anyone. I am looking forward to coming back next year — Rochelle 2008

Whether you, like Rochelle, have wanted to learn to sail for years, or you sailed as a youngster and want to get back into the sport, or you just want to try something new and meet some new people, whatever the reason you can do it all at PCYC this summer.

Our on-the-water sailing courses follow the curriculum of the Canadian Yachting Association (CYA). Upon successful completion you will achieve the CYA Standard for that course. Proof of this achievement is recognized by boating associations, facilities and charter operations around the world.

Our Programs: Learn to Cruise & Learn to Sail

Following the CYA system our adult sailing courses are divided into two streams: Learn to Cruise (LTC) and Learn to Sail LTS). The program you choose depends on the type of sailing you intend to do. LTC is taught on keelboats. Keelboats are larger with weight added to the boat to provide stability. LTS is taught in dinghies, smaller boats where you are the weight which provides stability. Both are excellent ways to start your sailing career.

CYA Basic Cruising (LTC)
If you have ever dreamed of sailing the crystal blue waters of the Caribbean, keelboat sailing is the first step to get you out on the water. This course is taught on 24ft keelboats. Successful students are awarded the CYA Basic Cruising standards.

Objective:
Upon completion of this course you will be able to sail a “day-sailor” safely and efficiently in moderate wind and sea conditions. You will also be able to demonstrate the necessary sailing skills required for the CYA Basic Cruising Standard.
