Lot’s of Fun… No Stress, Lunches, Dinner, T Shirts, Great Prizes, Trophy The 7th ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green Regatta’ takes place on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Port Credit Yacht Club. This regatta is for Green level Optimist dinghies and prams to give new racers an opportunity to try racing with other sailors at the same level. Frday August 9th 2012 is our racing clinic for sailors and coaches. This will give these new racers an excellent preparation day for the regatta on Friday. The clinic will be conducted by an experienced Optimist racing coach. A beautiful trophy and individual awards have been generously donated by the Radonic family, members of PCYC for the Regatta. There will be awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for both boys and girls in Optimist and pram classes. Winners will also receive PCYC racing flags.
We have planned a fun day with T-shirts, boat stickers, lots of draw prizes, and terrific barbeque lunches at PCYC as well as dinner, including dessert and juice on Thursday.
The Chief Racing Officer will talk to the sailors before the race and there will be a debrief at the end of the day. There will be as many races as time and wind will allow so that the kids get lots of experience. There will be no protests from sailors, but the CRO can protest a competitor. A specific code of sailing etiquette will be explained by the CRO. We want this to be a positive experience for novice racers.
The cost is $75.00 with a $5.00 discount ($70.00) for registrations for both days (Clinic and Regatta) and $40.00 ($35.00) for the regatta only if registration is submitted and paid for before July 27th. Coaches $35.00/$20.00
Competitors and coaches are asked to register online - go to ‘RESULTS and SCHEDULES’ on right side of this page for link to on-line registration.
Competitors are expected to bring their own boats from their clubs. They can be delivered the day before and left on the grass beside the PCYC playground. Some boats may be available for rental at PCYC Learn to Sail program. Call James at PCYC for reservations. (905) 278-5578 Ext. 241
